Importance of Biology in NEET Exam Preparation

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET (UG), formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.)

Physics and Chemistry sections 45 questions each are to be attempted, while the biology section will comprise of 90 questions to be attempted in a total time of 200 minutes. National Testing Agency has specified the total marks of NEET is 720.

As per the NEET 2023 exam pattern, the questions in the medical entrance examination will be divided into two sections each for Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany: Section A and B. Section A will contain 35 questions while Section B will have 15 questions. Of these 15 questions in Section B, candidates will have to answer 10 questions. So out of 50 Questions given 45 needs to be attempted.

Question Types in NEET Biology

Biology represents 50% of the paper, making it the most vital subject for you to prepare. Biology is one of the most important subjects for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Due to the theoretical nature of these questions, it is easier to score marks in biology than in physics and chemistry.

Around 40-42 questions come from the Class 11 syllabus, while the rest 48-50 questions are from the class XII syllabus.

Based on NCERT: Most of these questions are based on the theory of class 11 and class 12 NCERT books. Focussing on NCERT is really important. It will make solving around 70 questions in this biology paper becomes extremely simple

From Previous Years’ Question Papers: Around 8-10 questions to be expected directly from the NEET question papers belonging to previous years. Solving question papers from previous years can help you solve these and will also make you aware of the level and type of questions asked.
