The entrance exam consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. It is also carried out in two stages (or shifts) that are held on the same day. All the students must appear for both papers to be eligible for the merit list. PATTERN
- The exam will be a computer-based test (CBT).
- Group I (PCM) will consist of two subject papers namely, Mathematics, and Physics + Chemistry.
- Group II (PCB) will consist of two subject papers namely, Mathematics, and Biology.
- Each subject paper will be of one and half hours duration and 100 marks.
- 20% of questions in each subject paper will be from Class XI while the remaining 80% of questions will be from Class XII.
- All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) i.e. each question will have four choices, only one being the correct choice.
- There will be no Negative Marking.
- The medium for examination shall be English or Marathi or Urdu for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. However, the Mathematics paper shall be in English only.

BITSAT 2023 application form for the first and second sessions is now available online. The final date to submit the BITSAT application form 2023 is April 9. BITSAT 2023 exam dates have been announced. The authorities will conduct BITSAT 2023 as a computer-based test from May 22 to 26 (Session 1) and June 18 to 22 (Session 2).

BITSAT 2023 Exam Pattern
- Exam Mode: BITSAT 2023 will be conducted online (computer-based) only.
- No. of questions: There are a total of 130 questions in the exam paper.
- Medium: The question paper will be in the English language.
- Sections: The question paper will consist of 4 sections/parts.
- Time Duration: Candidates have to attempt the question paper within 3 hours i.e. 180 minutes.
- Marking scheme: 3 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 130 questions. If a candidate answers all the 130 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and Logical reasoning only; three questions from each of them. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 130 questions.
IISER Aptitude Test on 17 June, 2023. Registration from 15 April, 2023. From 2023-24 academic session, along with IISER, IISc Bangalore will also consider IISER aptitude test for admission in Bsc programme.
To get high quality Science education, Government of India, has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Berhampur, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.
Admission Channels
There are three channels for admission.
- Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Channel
- Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology Channel
- IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) Channel
The three channels will be referred to as KVPY, JEE and IAT respectively.
A candidate can apply through any one or two or all the three channels, provided they satisfy the overall eligibility conditions and specific eligibility conditions for those channels.
- IAT Channel
o Candidates seeking admission through this channel must appear for a computer-based IISER Aptitude Test (IAT-2023).
o IAT-2023 will be conducted on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 9:00 AM, at various centres across the country.
- KVPY Channel
o The KVPY-SA-2021 students who have received the provisional KVPY fellowship award are eligible to apply for admissions.
o Candidates in the extended KVPY merit list are not eligible.
o Candidates seeking admission under this channel do not have to appear for IAT-2023.
- JEE Channel
o Candidates seeking admission under JEE channel should have qualified in the JEE (Advanced) in the year 2023, AND should have a rank within 15000 in the common rank list or in the respective category rank lists (GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD).
o Those who qualified JEE (Advanced) in any year other than 2023 are not eligible.
o Candidates with JEE (Advanced) preparatory ranks are not eligible.
o Candidates seeking admission under this channel do not have to appear for IAT-2023.
IISER Aptitude Test Pattern 2023
The IISER Aptitude Test 2023 (IAT-2023) will be a computer-based, 3-hour test covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The IISER aptitude test will have multiple choice type questions with only one correct answer. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks. Each incorrect answer will lead to the deduction of 1 mark.
