The upcoming JEE Advanced 2024, scheduled for May 26, has garnered attention with significant data indicating Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra as frontrunners in eligible candidates. Reports reveal that 11% of eligible candidates hail from UP, while 9.8% are from Maharashtra.

As per media reports, most of the candidates qualifying for JEE Advanced 2024 originate from Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the state’s prominence in the competitive examination landscape. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the IIT entrance test, with the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main 2024 eligible to participate.

A staggering total of 28,373 students from Uttar Pradesh are reportedly representing the state in JEE Advanced 2024, followed closely by Maharashtra with 24,596 candidates, and Telangana with 24,121. Alongside Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, these three states have recorded over 20,000 eligible candidates each. Conversely, only 4.5 candidates hail from Madhya Pradesh, as revealed in the data.

Furthermore, insights from the data indicate that while 75% of registered candidates opted to appear in both sessions of JEE Main 2024, only 28% managed to enhance their scores in the second session.

  • Andhra Pradesh: 21,844 (8.7%)

  • Karnataka: 16,443 (6.6%)
  • Bihar: 13,588 (5.4%)
  • Tamil Nadu: 12,251 (4.9%)
  • Delhi: 12,101 (4.8%)
  • Gujarat: 11,744 (4.7%)

Of the 9.24 lakh common candidates registered, 8.22 lakh appeared for the JEE Main 2024 exam in both sessions, with results declared in April. Notably, the highest number of JEE Main 2024 toppers hailed from Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.

JEE Advanced 2024 holds significant importance as it serves as the gateway to prestigious institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other engineering institutes offering BTech programs. With Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra leading the eligibility landscape, candidates from these states have a strong representation in the competitive exam arena.
