IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 — Key Dates & Notification

The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 is the national entrance exam for admission into the undergraduate programmes at IISERs. 

Important Dates

  • Application Start: March 5, 2026 
  • Last Date to Apply: April 13, 2026 
  • Application Correction Window: April 13–15, 2026 
  • Admit Card Release: May 24, 2026 
  • IIT 2026 Exam Date: June 7, 2026 (9 am–12 noon) 

The official notification for the IAT 2026 has been released and candidates can apply online through the official portal (iiseradmission.in). 

Eligibility & Exam Pattern

To be eligible for the IAT 2026 exam, candidates must have completed Class 12 with science subjects (Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics/Biology). 

The test is computer-based and evaluates candidates in:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Biology

Questions are objective type and assess conceptual understanding and analytical skills. 

Selection Channels for IISER Admission

Apart from the IAT, candidates can also seek admission through:

  • JEE Advanced channel – students with top ranks can apply. 
  • KVPY channel – for candidates with KVPY scholarships (subject to availability). 

However, the IAT is the primary and most common route for admission.

  • IISERs together offer over 2300+ seats across BS-MS, BS and B.Tech programmes. 
  • Each campus has a specific allocation — like ~300 seats at IISER Bhopal and ~350 at IISER Tirupati.
